What To Expect From Residential Pool Maintenance And Service Woodbridge VA

By Joyce Jackson

There are many ways to stay cool in the unforgivingly hot summers of Virginia. Some people eat popsicles, use hats and umbrellas to keep the sun off, and others go just stay indoors in the air conditioning. It would be a shame to stay inside all summer, which is why you can keep cool and enjoy the fresh air by installing a swimming pool in your yard. After installation, you will need to procure the services of a Residential Pool Maintenance and Service Woodbridge VA.

When the cold winds of winter hit, you will no longer want to go swimming. However, when winter is over, you will need to get some basic maintenance done in order to ensure that the water is safe to go back into.

Commonly called a pool opening, the service person from your chosen maintenance business will take the winterizing cover off and reassemble any parts that were disassembled for the cold weather, such as the filtration system. They will remove any winter plugs and look for anything that may have cracked or been damaged over the winter. They will often brush the walls to remove any dirt and even vacuum it so it is thoroughly clean.

After the opening, the crew will return to add any chemicals that may be needed to balance out the water and ensure that everything is working properly. After this, you should finally be able to enjoy the water once more.

After you have begun to enjoy your pool again, you will want to make sure it is enjoyable for the entire season. That is where regular maintenance comes in. Your appointed person will come back regularly to inspect everything all over and keep it in working condition. That means they will check and empty the filters, look over the equipment, and add any additional chemicals that might be needed to maintain the water. In addition, they will take out any leaves, sticks or dead bugs that might have landed in the pool.

These visits can be weekly, biweekly, monthly or even more frequently than once a week if you so desire. It all depends on how often your water gets sticks or leaves in it, and even the size or condition of the entire structure could determine how often you need visits.

As the cooler airs start to chill the outdoors, it is time to winterize your pool for the season. Another visit is needed to do what is called a closing. Filters are cleaned, equipment is removed and stored, and winter chemicals are added to the water to keep it safe for use next season. A large tarp or other cover is used to keep out branches and leaves that often come with winter storms.

During the winter, it is a good idea to still have occasional maintenance done. This includes checking the condition of the cover, inspecting the drains and filters for possible damage. The water level is checked, and fresh chemicals may be added if needed. This little bit of seasonal maintenance will actually go a long ways towards making the pool opening the next year faster and easier. It could also prevent costly repairs that may be needed due to damage from harsh winter storms.
