Three paintings by Claude Monet will be auctioned next month in New York by Sotheby House, as part of its sales to fall auction.
Their combined value is estimated at more than $ 40 million, said Monday in a house at auction. "Alice Hoschedé Garden," painted in 1881, is estimated at between 25 and 35 million. The young woman was the mistress of the painter and the wife of a friend of his, Ernst Hoschédé. "Under the poplars," painted in 1887, is estimated at between 12 and 18 million, and "Church of Vernon, soleil", painted in 1894, between 7 and 9 million.
These prices are far record for a Monet. His "Water Lilies" were awarded in June for 54 million $ (39) at Sotheby's in London. And in 2008, "Water Lilies" was sold $ 80.4 million (€ 59 million) at Christie's in London. The three works will be exhibited in Hong Kong on October 24 and 25, and in New York from October 31, before the Impressionist and Modern Art on November 4 auction tonight. "Chariot", a sculpture by Alberto Giacometti Suisse estimated at more than $ 100 million should be the star of the auction evening
